Hey there! I’m Dr. Erica — Owner of Clinical Expressions Counseling & Wellness Center. I am super passionate about helping clients realize their full potential!
I have a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from Northern Illinois University. I have experience in various clinical settings, such as universities, hospitals, corrections, health departments, substance use treatment, and private practice since 2004.
I have been licensed as a Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) by the state of Illinois licensing boards since 2007 and as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) by the state of Iowa licensing boards in 2022. I am certified in the following specializations: approved clinical supervisor (ACS) since 2016, telemental health provider (BC-TMH), and an integrated mental health professional (CIMHP) in 2021. In addition, I have provided supervision and training to master and doctoral counseling and psychology trainees since 2011.
Also, it was when the impact of COVID-19 that my focus was on reducing stress, improving mindfulness and relaxation practices, and enhancing overall well-being; I transitioned my practices to holistic health. Gaining knowledge about Complementary Alternative Medicine (CAM) ignited my passion for teaching and providing resources to improve an individual’s holistic balance (i.e., mind, body, and soul). Also, many mental health providers, including myself, know various interventions to support well-being. Yet, many still need to incorporate CAM, such as essential oils or aromatherapy, into their practice. Clinical Expressions developed Holistic Aromatherapy to educate, increase awareness and provide products for individuals to improve their holistic balance (mind, body, and soul). Our bodies are designed to heal themselves when they have the right tools.
In addition, I aim to ensure that professionals like you get the support they deserve. And it isn’t that you aren’t fabulous. It’s that you still need to tap into your brilliance fully! And to me, that’s unacceptable. Too many AMAZING people are overlooked, undervalued, and feel out of place, causing feelings of inadequacy, low self-esteem, lack of confidence in their signature sauce, and many other physical and mental issues sometimes caused by the impostor Phenomenon.
I, too, struggled with the impostor phenomenon. I was hiding from success, hanging in the background, and unwilling to let my light shine as intended. Until one day, I was completely fed up with my lackluster career and home life, and a lightbulb went off for me.
Through my training in humanistic therapies, I realized there were some mental and emotional blocks I needed to overcome. And I knew I wasn’t the only person struggling in this same way because client after client was coming to me with the same issues.
You are not alone. I am here to support your growth journey!
